Scholarship and Support Program for Aspiring Mindfulness Teachers

Scholarship Spotlight

Thanks to the support of our donors and Event participants, Eric Wilkins is able to take the two-year mindfulness teacher training offered by Jack Kornfield and Tara Brach, the Mindfulness Meditation Teacher Certification Program (MMTCP).

The Ann Arbor Center for Mindfulness (AACFM) is again offering limited supplemental support to aspiring mindfulness teachers from underrepresented communities in Southern Michigan by offering scholarships and mentorship. The 2025 open scholarship request period is March 17, 2025 to June 13, 2025.  Southern Michigan includes but is not limited to Ann Arbor, Ypsilanti, Adrian, Detroit and outlying cities and rural areas, Jackson, Greater Lansing, Flint, the Tri-Cities, Grand Rapids, Kalamazoo, Battle Creek and outlying cities and rural areas, and the Lake Michigan Shore.

We believe that the practice and teaching of mindfulness should be inclusive, particularly those in which mindfulness teachers are underrepresented. Take part in our mission to cultivate a more diverse and empowered mindfulness teaching community by seeking support through the Robinson Teacher Scholarship and Support Program.

Becoming a mindfulness teacher requires commitment and dedication. Most teacher training programs require a consistent meditation practice and participation in retreats prior to admission. Certification typically requires multiple teacher training classes, qualified retreats, experience teaching, and mentorship. We wish to support all aspects of this demanding training.

If you have a serious interest in teaching mindfulness, are cultivating a personal mindfulness practice, and are a social worker, educator, school personnel, psychologist, counselor, nurse, public health, other healthcare professional, yoga teacher, or community leader, we encourage you to apply.
